Though the winter in Niagara Falls is stunning, with the city covered in a blanket of white and the lampposts coated in beautiful glass-like ice, spring is always a highly anticipated season. With the Niagara Parkway adorned with tulips and daffodils, the colours of spring spread across the region. If you are planning a visit this season, here are the best places to enjoy the sites, colours, and experiences that spring has to offer.
Take a scenic drive along the parkway to the Botanical Gardens, Niagara Parks’ expansive grounds featuring 99 acres of seasonal blooms, lush gardens, and peaceful walking trails. Admission is free for the day, and there are plenty of serene sitting areas to enjoy a picnic, a book, or just a moment's appreciation. Spring is the only time to view the vibrant tulips and the pink tree blossoms that bloom for just a short period of time, so this stop is not to be missed.
Just across the street from the Botanical Gardens is WildPlay Niagara’s Adventure Course, a totally unique Niagara experience that provides a new, fun, and thrilling way to see the world-famous Niagara Gorge and Whirlpool from high above. Start with a training course on the ground, and then begin your adventure on tightropes, climbing cargo nets, ziplines, rope swings, swinging logs, and wobbly bridges. Parking is free, and there is a climbing option for all skill levels, from beginner to expert, for climbers aged 5 and up!
Continue along the parkway towards Niagara-on-the-Lake and you’ll reach the Floral Clock. It’s officially spring in Niagara when the clock boasts the colours of the season. There are expansive grassy hills with space for picnics, a game of catch, or just sitting in the sunshine. There are also full bathroom facilities, picnic tables, and benches. There is no charge to visit, and parking is free!
At the opposite end of the Niagara Parkway, you’ll find the Floral Showhouse. Though it is open year-round, spring is always full of radiant colours and the most beautiful florals. With three main display houses, this garden oasis is truly the place where spring is in the air. The greenhouses are filled with collections of orchids, succulents, and other tropical plant species. Outside of the greenhouses, you’ll find spectacular landscapes, including ponds and a fragrance garden, where you can wander along the paths or rest on a bench in the peaceful Artists' Garden.
After a day of exploring, there is no better place to rest your head than the Embassy Suites Niagara Falls Hotel. Book a Full Fallsview Suite to appreciate the colours of the region with a view of Niagara Falls and the expansive parkway.
